Consignment of imported oak barrels The American Oak barrels once bourbon emptied are being imported by Oceanic for the last three decades for the entire liquor industry. These are charred on the inside 1/16th inch and comprise of wooden staves and ends. As they come in knocked down for they too are assembled at the distillery site. Over a hundred thousand barrels have been imported by Oceanic into the country and millions of gallons of malt spirit have been matured in this wood having warmed the cockles of many an imbiber in India. An Oak barrel maturation within a matter of 2-3 years transforms the harsh malt spirit into a smooth, rounded and mellow whisky.
