To failing light and a dimmed mind.
I then seek within and seek without,
Tis thus a company to cheer about..."

Mr Atul Sharma, Reaping a great harvest

The Oceanic Group and the potable alcohol industry have been inextricably bound much before the inception of the Group. In the sixties the Patriarch and group promoter Mr. S L Sharma imported significant consignments of bottled Scotch in India and then in early seventies was instrumental in securing substantial import licenses of Scotch. These Licenses were transferred to the burgeoning UB group, then. In 1975 the Oceanic Group was registered with the prime objective of servicing the import requirements of the Indian alcohol industry. The group blazed the trail by importing complete oak wood barrels and oak vats into the country that triggered a quality revolution, this side of the globe. Consequently products like Royal Challenge, McDowell Single Malt, Signature whisky etc. all became a reality as Indian malt was being bred and matured in the confines of white American Oak wood casks. In the eighties Oceanic continued to import integral consumables, raw materials such as Oak barrels, vats, toasted chips, botanicals, flavors, Scotch whisky, Vatted malt spirit, paxerette sherry, wine corks, caps, foils, enzymes, yeast and very many other commodities.
